Have you ever considered to stop and think why a lot of people do not excel after years and years of hard work? Life is good till you get a curve ball, a lemon or in some instances a catastrophic incident that turns your whole world upside down. Most of us are great at putting one foot in front of the other, want about hedging or securing, locking in our positions or our gains along the way?
I say this because I have lived in my house for the better part of 20 years, the pine tree two houses over had stood for at least the same amount of time I have lived in the area. The storm the other day uprooted one whole tree into the neighbour’s yard toppling his whole fence down one side of the property over and breaking under-ground pipes in the process.
There are another 4 gigantic pine trees along that same fence line. Hmm, what next? The next door neighbours house?
Moral of the story is, this is no different to life, finance and career, have you hedged YOUR bets (risk)?
